Bug Quilt project

For my art quilt group the theme was "bugs". Remember these are small projects and a chance to stretch your creativity and try new techniques if you want. Most people did butterflies or bugs under rocks but there were some awesome projects. One lady printed an actual computer virus in a software program then put it in a "jar" made with clear plastic sheeting sewn with a gold lid so it was in a jar. So cute. Here is mine:
Yes, I stitched the leaf.

The cars are Volkswagen bugs. Sorry it is hard to see. They are shrink plastic with holes in the wheels with black bead for tires, that also holds it on the leaf.
Not a great picture of the cars again (they really are cute) but you can see the sheer ribbon I used for the binding. The last car has flowers on it like a Love Bug.
This is the back It is stitched with rayon variegated thread.

  1. Julia, I really like your leaf! You really do have an artistic mind! The stitching on your leaf is very good! Where did you find the little cars? They are adorable!I am looking forward to when I have time to sew again! Right now I am trying to work on a quilt for Clara. (Annie's baby)I will get one of the girls to help me post some projects as soon as things settle down here! I love it when you post things so keep doing it!
